Our Mission, Vision and Goals

For nearly 34 years, the Kenya Medical Women’s Association (KMWA) has contributed to the growth of health sector and health professionals and particularly development of women in medicine and many marginalized women and the vulnerable in Kenya.

The Women Doctors and Dentists are making KMWA a formidable National influencer in the Kenyan medical profession  by;

  • Promoting the interests of women physicians within medical organizations and the government
  • Advocating for and improving management of women’s health issues.
  • Influencing health care policies pertaining to women and the general population.
  • Aiding and encouraging ongoing education of medical students and physicians; and
  • Providing a forum for networking between women physicians at the local, national and international levels.
  • A voice for women doctors and dentists.

Our Mission

The Kenya Medical Women Association (KMWA) is a national organization committed to the professional, social and personal advancement of women doctors and dentists and to the promotion of the well-being of women both in the medical profession and in society at large.

Our Vision

KMWA seeks to be the networking and professional development home for all Kenyan women in the medical profession while being the preeminent advocate for women’s health across Kenya.

The logo symbolizes the art of medicine and healing in addition to the spread of peace through alleviation of disease and ignorance

Goals

The Kenya Medical Women’s Association (KMWA ) and its members are concerned with impacting healthcare in our community, across the country and around the globe.

Community/Branch

Locally each branch provides members with Continuing Medical Education, networking events to share ideas, and mentoring programs to mentor or be mentored. Each KMWA Branch advocates for local and county women’s health concerns and issues. Both locally and across the nation, the KMWA provides student mentorship and leadership development for medical students as well as funding for women’s health research.

National

As a member of the many professional health associations, KMWA is asked to participate in Women’s Health initiatives and policy planning of government as well as advising the associations. We hold national conferences including Leadership Workshops and Symposiums for Medical Women and the KMWA Annual General Meeting.

International

Globally KMWA is affiliated  Medical Women’s International Association (MWIA) from 1984 and attained consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in 1994. KMWA organizes and attends conferences around the world. It participates in  Women’s Health activities of United Nations and World Health Organization and other international agencies.
